Good morning,
When Missouri can’t find a safe place for a child with serious medical or behavioral needs, who is responsible for making sure that child doesn’t fall through the cracks?
Lawmakers put that question to Children’s Division leaders Wednesday after a summer that included the death of 17-year-old Korbin Papadopoulos. He died weeks after the state placed him nearly 300 miles from home with a foster parent who wasn’t licensed to care for him.
The division says these cases are “all hands on deck.” Some lawmakers heard something else: a system where it isn’t clear where the buck stops.
