The most revealing part of a political attack ad is often what it leaves out.
A new radio campaign in the Republican primary for the 16th Senate District accuses former state Rep. Hannah Kelly of being beholden to gambling interests. The ads do not mention that the PAC paying for them is funded entirely by an Illinois gambling company seeking to legalize video lottery terminals in Missouri — legislation Kelly opposes.
Nor do they mention that the company is backing Kelly’s rival Bill Hardwick, the House sponsor of the legislation it wants passed.
