Missouri voters rewrote the state’s abortion laws in 2024. On Thursday, a Jackson County judge began putting that decision into practice.

Judge Jerri Zhang struck down nearly all of Missouri’s abortion regulations, including the 72-hour waiting period and several rules Planned Parenthood said made medication abortion impossible to provide in the state. Planned Parenthood says appointments for medication abortion will begin next week in Kansas City and Columbia.
