Missouri ballots go out as map fight drags on

Good morning,

Missouri election officials reached the point Friday where the legal fight over the state’s congressional map stopped being an abstraction.

Ballots began going out to military and overseas voters even as a federal appeals court weighed whether to change the district lines yet again.

Local officials say another switch would mean reprogramming machines, reprinting ballots and trying to reach voters who already received one — all with absentee voting beginning Tuesday.

For now, the 2022 map remains in place. But as Rudi Keller reports, the clock is becoming as important as the courtroom.
