Missouri’s attorney general is usually the one defending state laws and court rulings in federal court.
Not this time.
Catherine Hanaway’s office is attacking last week’s unanimous Missouri Supreme Court decision on congressional redistricting, calling its reasoning a “legal fiction” and asking federal judges to block it. The extraordinary posture comes as election officials face a Tuesday deadline to finalize the Nov. 3 ballot and as the fight is before the U.S. Supreme Court.
