Good morning,

Most state legislative primaries are local fights. This one is not so easily contained.

State Sen. Curtis Trent is running for reelection in southwest Missouri while also trying to position himself for one of the most powerful jobs in the Capitol: majority floor leader.

But before Trent can make that case to his Republican colleagues, he has to make it to voters back home. Lori Rook is trying to turn his Jefferson City influence into the argument against him, casting Trent as part of the insider culture GOP primary voters have rejected before.
